Working With Local Farmers

The one thing that is most important to me when it comes to food is buying, supporting, and eating local. This ensures a quality, nutritious product, while building meaningful relationships within our community. In today’s world there is nothing better than knowing exactly where your food is coming from. In addition to that, the money you spend stays in the community. One farm I love to work with is Conover Gardens. They always have an amazing selection of greens, fruits, and vegetables from their own gardens. They also get fresh produce from farms all across Wisconsin. Wisconsin has some of the best dairy, protein, and fish in the country that we should be taking advantage of. Building these connections ensures that I can deliver a quality product while still supporting the community that we all love.

How To Keep It Fresh Year Round

As beautiful and welcoming as Wisconsin is, there is obviously one issue with farm to table; Winter. It makes it hard to find fresh produce year round when almost half of our year is Winter. I took it upon myself to be able to provide fresh ingredients, so I started growing Microgreens. Microgreens are young seedlings of edible vegetables and herbs. They grow much quicker than vegetables’ with a harvest time of 7-21 days. Along with a quick harvest the list of benefits from eating microgreens is vast.

Some benefits are:

  • May reduce the risk of Heart disease, Alzheimer’s, Diabetes, and certain cancers.

  • May lower cholesterol levels

  • Can lower blood pressure

  • Support gut health

  • They contain about 40% more nutritional value than their full-grown counterparts.

Microgreens are a healthy, and beautiful addition to any meal. I am excited to be able to incorporate them into dishes that you love and enjoy. Elevating each dish to a new level year round!
